Digital Portfolio
Statement
For this digital portfolio I have chosen pieces of work that I think show my strengths and areas of interest within art and design. I have picked a wide range of work to show my different abilities and some sketchbook pages to show the development of my work. I hope that this reflects my clear interest in graphic design and typography.
I am interested in lots of designers but one that stands out for me is David Carson. During a recent typography project I felt that he inspired me to research into legibility, showing that typography can add an additional layer of meaning beyond the actual word or phrase. This is something that fascinates me and I hope to investigate further in the future.
In my spare time I enjoy water sports, particularly windsurfing and wakeboarding. I also enjoy socialising, photography, fashion and music. One of my main interests is travel, and I have been lucky enough to see many intriguing places such as Kenya, Prague and the Caribbean that I think inspire some of my artwork.
I am interested in studying graphic design on a degree course because it will give me the opportunity to expand on my creativity, and explore the subject in new ways, finding out more about what it has to offer. At present my ambition is to pursue a career that deals with editorial and magazine design.

Self Portrait Painting

Ceramics Worksheet
This is a worksheet for a 5 day ceramics project based on the painting 'Garden Of Earthly Delights' by Hieronymus Bosch. The worksheet contains some of my ideas for the project after looking at the painting in detail, and how I developed some ideas. It also shows some drawings of the end pieces, and a ceramicist that inspired me.Printmaking
This printmaking piece was the end product of a 5 day project based on the theme of architecture. I chose to use skyscrapers and modern buildings in my prints, using textured wallpapers to create shapes and patterns. I really enjoyed this project because it involved a lot of experimenting with collage backgrounds and wallpapers to create the prints. Typeface Design
This is a typeface design I designed from eight simple shapes called Blockface. There is also a poster I created to promote my typeface design. I was inspired by childhood memories of playing with block shapes in primary school, which, after lots of experimenting, lead to this final design. The shapes have been isolated for the user to design their own variations of Blockface.
